This year the North Carolina Seafood Festival (NCSF) will be presenting a virtual road race! The Road Race will consist of three different race lengths, a 5-kilometer run, a 10-kilometer run, and a half marathon. The Festival will also be extending a challenge of running all race distances as a “Race Series Challenge.”These races can be run on the participants time, schedule, and preferred route. The Festival Board of Directors have prepared suggested run routes to display the beauty of the Crystal Coast as well as encourage collaboration for runners and families.

The NCSF will be accepting race results from September 1st to the 31st of October.And costs are as follows:

    • 5K: $25.00/runner
    • 10k: $30.00/runner
    • Half Marathon: $45.00/runner
    • Race Series Challenge: $75.00/runner

Registration for the Road Race can be found on the Run The East Website https://www.runtheeast.com/. Race entries will receive a commemorative 2020 North Carolina Seafood Festival Road Race T-shirt as well as other race entry packet materials provided by our sponsors. All half marathon and race series challengers will receive medals to celebrate their achievements.

Races can be completed as individual races or as a series, if you choose to register for the series you will receive unique recognition and a medal specific to the accomplishment.

Race winners will be advertised on the NCSF website and receive reward medals.The Festival will announce runners of each sex within the following age groups:

  • 20 and under
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 59 and up

Festival Recommended Race Routes



Participants can choose to run the routes suggested below or alternative routes chosen at the discretion of the runner. Additional suggested route options will be posted throughout the coming weeks.


Half Marathon Route:

  • Race begins in the parking lot area of the Maritime Museum Annex on West Beaufort Road Ext, turning left onto US 70, crossing both the Beaufort and Radio Island high rise bridges.
  • Route turns right onto 4th Street in Morehead City at intersection of 4th and Arendell Street.
  • Route proceeds along 4th Street until the turn onto Fisher Street.
  • Route turns left onto Fisher Street proceeding west to 11th street.
  • Route turns right onto 11th and immediately back left onto Bay Street.
  • Route proceeds West on Bay Street until reaching 16th Street where route will proceed around the rear sidewalk behind Morehead City Parks and Rec department until joining back on the street on 17th,
  • Route will then turn right onto Fisher Street and proceed to the asphalt driveway into Bayview Cemetery.
  • Right on driveway into Bayview then left through the middle of the cemetery (around the Veteran’s memorial) until the course reaches 20th Street.
  • Route will turn right (north) on 20th street and proceed approximately 1.5 miles until the entrance to Blair Farms where the course will turn right onto Blair Farm Parkway.
  • Route will continue east along Blair Farm Parkway into intersection with Country Club Road.
  • Route turns right on Country Club Road proceeding south until the road turns sharply left and becomes Blair Pointe Road.
  • Procced to the dead end at the end of Blair Pointe road and turn around for the return leg of the course back out Blair Pointe Road and back onto Country Club Road.
  • Route will turn back left onto Blair Farm Parkway heading West until reaching 20th street.
  • Route turns left on 20th Street and proceeds back south until reaching Bayview Cemetery where the route will again turn left and enter the Cemetery.
  • Route will travel through Bayview, again circling around the Veterans Memorial in the middle of the Cemetery and will turn right onto the entrance path which connects to Fisher Street.
  • Route will cross Fisher Street and continue down 19th Street heading south, crossing over Bridges Street (Recommend a flag person at this intersection) and crossing Arendell Street at this point (Traffic control will be needed here).
  • Once across Arendell route will turn right onto Evans Street proceeding West toward the Atlantic Beach Bridge.
  • Evans Street dead ends just beyond 22nd Street and just before the Atlantic Beach Bridge, route will use the existing sidewalk connector to move between Evans Street onto the shoulder of 23rd Street, which is the North Bound lane of the Atlantic Beach Causeway.
  • Route will use the eastern most shoulder of the Atlantic Beach Bridge running south along the Causeway and over the Atlantic Beach bridge into the Town of Atlantic Beach.
  • Route proceeds south along the Causeway facing traffic on the east side of the road until the Causeway intersects with Ft Macon Road (Traffic Control will be needed at the intersection).
  • Route crosses over Ft Macon Road on the east side of the intersection (E. Ft Macon Road) entering the Atlantic Beach circle, East Drive.
  • Route will travel up the east side of the Atlantic Beach circle (East Drive) and will round the circle from the east until terminating at the middle of the circle on Atlantic Blvd.

10K Route

  • Route leaves from the Sanitary Parking Lot next to the NC Seafood Festival Offices.
  • Proceed West on Evans Street until Big Rock Plaza.
  • Veer left onto Shepard and continue East on Sheppard Street
  • Turn left on 12th Street onto Shackleford Street and continue East.
  • Take hard right turn onto 18th Street where Shackleford dead ends.
  • Continue up 18th and make a left onto Shepard and continue to 19th Street.
  • Turn left onto Evans Street and continue along until you reach the crossing at 23rd Street.
    • Cautiously cross the Atlantic Beach Causeway paying special attention to traffic traveling South on the Southbound side of the road.
  • Continue along Evans Street until you reach the Visitor Center and loop left around the building.
    • Water and Bathrooms are available at the Visitor Center.
  • Continue West on the sidewalk adjacent to Arendell Street until you reach College Cir.
  • Turn left onto College Circle following the road in a loop back toward the East.
  • Once back onto the Sidewalk adjacent to Evans Street continue east until the Visitor Center.
  • Loop back to the right behind the Visitor Center and back onto Evans Street.

Follow Evans Street back East for the remaining portion of the run terminating at or near the Sanitary Parking lot.


5K Route

  • Route leaves from the Sanitary Parking Lot next to the NC Seafood Festival Offices.
  • Proceed West on Evans Street until Big Rock Plaza.
  • Veer left onto Shepard and continue East on Sheppard Street
  • Turn left on 12th Street onto Shackleford Street and continue East.
  • Take hard right turn onto 18th Street where Shackleford dead ends.
  • Continue up 18th and make a left onto Shepard and continue to 20th Street.
  • At 20th turn right and then right again onto Evans, turning East for the return journey.
  • Continue down Evans until you reach the Sanitary Parking lot.
