Local Festival Wins Big at Carolina ShowFest 2011
MOREHEAD CITY-North Carolina Seafood Festival officials announced today that they were the recipients of several awards at the Carolina ShowFest. “We have always known our festival was one of the best in North Carolina, now we are excited to say that it is official,” said Stephanie McIntyre, Executive Director of the festival.
The festival won in three categories: Overall Event of the Year, Best Event Poster, and a new category, the Green Award. The awards were given on January 24th at “The 2010-2011 Stars of the Carolinas” awards ceremony in Greenville, South Carolina hosted by the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events and the South Carolina Festival and Events Association.
“It is an honor to know that our volunteers and staff, who work so hard to make this festival a premier event in our area, was recognized by not just a North Carolina Association but also one in South Carolina,” noted George Ballou, Chairman of the festival board. “These awards cover events in both states. This is really a great way to kick off our 25th year hosting the festival,” he continued.
The convention was attended by more than 300 festival event planners and professionals from both North and South Carolina. Associate members from sounds, lighting, entertainment, and a variety of festival logistics companies participated. The Stars of the Carolinas awards allows the associations to honor and recognize the best of the best in the festivals and events industry.
