Lena Ennis
"The Blessing of the Fleet"
Lena Ennis grew up in Carteret County where she resides
today with her husband and two children. She began her life
in art at an early age, learning to draw and paint from her
grandmother, a southwestern landscape artist. She attended
the School of Art at East Carolina University and moved back
home to Carteret County spending several years working as
the exclusive commercial artist for a local advertising
agency. During this time, as a commercial artist, she
designed ads and logos for many social events and businesses
including: The Carteret County Chamber of Commerce, The
Pepsi New River Heritage Festival and the North Carolina
Civil War Commemorative Committee. Two of her designs were
selected to be reproduced on T-shirts for the Big Rock Blue
Marlin Tournament.
Her first public exhibit was at the Core Sound Waterfowl
Museum in December of 2000. She was selected as featured
artist for the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum in 2001, which
included being commissioned to paint the artwork for their
2001-2002 museum poster.
Today, her work is based mostly on privately commissioned
pieces with subjects in wildlife and portraiture and can be
found in private and corporate collections throughout the
southern United States.
She is represented by the gallery at Arts and Things on the
waterfront in Morehead City, NC and by the gallery at the
Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, Harkers Island, NC.
