Scholarship Golfing Extravaganza 
An excellent opportunity for networking while supporting the Seafood Festival Scholarship Program. An awards dinner takes place afterwards at the golf course recognizing sponsors and winners. Two $2,500 scholarships are awarded to students of families employed in the fishing industry or for students pursuing an education in the maritime field  or marine biology field. A fun afternoon for a worthy cause, at the beautiful Morehead City Country Club.

The North Carolina Seafood Festival seeks artists wishing to have their work considered for the Official 2013 27th year, Festival Commemorative Poster.

We request that artists submit an 11’ X14” sketch of their intended artwork or original artwork along with a portfolio. All work submitted must be original artwork that has never been presented for public viewing. Color artwork is encouraged. Please include a bio mentioning recent awards, shows that you have participated in and other details you feel important. This is an open call to all North Carolina residents. A selection committee will review submissions. A copy of the NC Seafood Festival’s Mission Statement is attached. The content of the Mission Statement may be reflected in the subject matter of the submitted artwork.

All entries must be submitted October 15 – 20, 2012. The deadline is October 20th at 4:00 pm. No sketch or original artwork will be accepted before October 15th. Please label all artwork with name, address, and phone number. If you want your material returned by mail, please include a return postage paid envelope or appropriate mailing package.

The selected artist will be notified by the 6th of November and will be required to deliver a 22’ X 28’ painting to the North Carolina Seafood Festival office by January 14, 2013. The work must be kept from public viewing. A monetary payment for the rights will be made to the selected artist and statewide publicity will begin in early spring at the Official Poster Unveiling. In addition, the artist receives complimentary tickets to Festival Events and activities throughout the year and a complimentary Vendor Space at the 27th Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival. The artwork is continually on display throughout the year until it is presented to the Town of Morehead City at the Opening Ceremonies.

The North Carolina Seafood Festival is seeking photographs to be considered for placement on the 26th Annual NC Seafood Festival’s Annual Storefront Poster. Photographs that will be considered must be taken in Coastal Carolina and may reflect the working seafood industry, coastal wildlife and their habitat, coastal scenery, and of course, photographs taken from a previous NC Seafood Festival.

To enter this contest, you will need to submit a straight print, 4×5, 4×6, 5×7, or 8×10 in size taken from a 35 mm film based negative or digital cameras with images four (4) Mega Pixels or larger. No mounting or matting will be allowed. The winner will be asked to submit a copy of the winning photo on disk for purposes of reproduction.

A maximum of four (4) photographs may be submitted. There is no entry fee for this contest. Please include your name, phone number, address, and email on the back of each entry. If you would like the photos to be returned, a self addressed, stamped envelope must be included.

All entries must be received by June 1, 2012. Members of the NC Seafood Festival Board of Directors will judge the entries.

The winner will receive $125.00 in cash prize. The winning photograph will become the property of the North Carolina Seafood Festival. The North Carolina Seafood Festival reserves the rights to use the photograph at will in future marketing of the Festival.

A $25.00 discount will be applied for all applications received before April 2, 2012. The deadline for receiving all applications will be June 1, 2012.

Additionally, the Little Miss SasSea and Prince Neptune pageant was held on Sunday, October 2nd and the winners of that pageant were Alexia Stip of Beaufort and Sebastian Mehrmann of Newport.Finally, the North Carolina Seafood Festival was the recipient of two awards from the IFEA, Silver Medal for the Chefs Tent –Best Educational Event and the Bronze Medal for BEST Billboard. The IFEA is the International Festivals & Events Association and recently had their national convention and awards ceremony in Texas.

The North Carolina Seafood Festival, now in its 25 year, is a not-for-profit organization in Carteret County with a five point mission statement with one of the goals being that of helping others recognize the importance of seafood and the commercial fishing industry in eastern North Carolina.
