The Moon and You
Based in Asheville, NC, The Moon and You is the joint effort of two very different songwriters: guitarist Ryan Furstenberg and cellist Melissa Hyman.
The duo formed in early 2012 after years of touring with other projects, and in working together they have found a unique collaborative voice. They have quickly attracted attention in Asheville’s eclectic music scene and throughout the Southeast for their sweet harmonies, unusual string arrangements and literate lyrics.

Real Songs, Real People, Real Music
Time Sawyer, an up and coming band from Charlotte, North Carolina was formed in mid 2009. First as an acoustic two person group consisting of Sam Tayloe, lead vocalist and rhythm guitar, and Kurt Layell as lead guitarist. The band took a short break from songwriting early in 2010. After a few months off, Sam and Kurt decided it was time to expand and added two more important pieces to the act, introducing a banjo played by Houston Norris, and the drums played by Clay Stirewalt. Touch of Grace
Hannah Marie & Hannah Catherine: Singing is a very big part of our life, for as long as we can remember we’ve been singing gospel songs. Some people have asked us, “Why do you sing gospel music?” The best answer we can give is that “God loves us so much and He’s done so much for us that it only seems natural to want to share with it with others. And singing is the best way we know how to do that.” We are blessed to be able to share our love of God and music with you. We would like to thank our song director, Marilyn Springle, for all she has done for us and all the countless hours she has spent with me and Hannah, she has done a lot for us, and has been with us through thick and thin. We love her so much and she is like our second mom.
Marilyn Springle: Directing “Touch of Grace” has been a joy and challenge of my life for over 10 years now. The Lord has placed in my path two outstanding young women. We share laughter, struggles, tears, and great happiness through this journey called life on the road to a better place called Heaven.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
The Nelsons – Southern Gospel Music
The Group was formed in 1972 after the conversion of Clinton Nelson out of a Rock ‘n Roll band which was organized in the mid 60’s. Although this band was very successful with the signing of a major recording label out of New York yet God had other plans in store.
The original Nelsons consisted of Clinton and Joy Nelson along with mom Nelson Reva Pearl. These three traveled extensively doing evangelistic work throughout the eastern half of the US. After a few years Mom Nelson went home to be with the Lord and Derek Guthrie, Clinton’s nephew joined the group as baritone singer. Today he is one of the finest male vocalists anywhere. Keith Moore, Jr. a long time friend and native of Harkers Island was with the group from 1990-2009. We appreciate his contribution to The Nelsons for this long period of time.
Cathy Cain, a powerful female singer joined the group in 2010. Cathy has been a lifelong acquaintance of The Nelsons and now holds an integral position in this vocal group. She has dedicated her talents to the Lord Jesus Christ. We are so happy to have her in the group.
The Nelsons are original in every sense of the word. Much of the material they sing is written by Clinton Nelson. Their singing style is basically southern in nature with a progressive flare. Their close family harmony and spirit and burden for lost souls are what this group is all about. Their goal is to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. This is what brings pleasure to their hearts.
Clinton is pastor of the Free Grace Wesleyan Church on Harkers Island, NC. This is the church he grew up in and loves to this day. Please visit our website www.singingnelsons.com

Gaylon Pope & Sweet Water
Gaylon Pope & SweetWater is a trio of vocalist who are committed to excellence! They approach every show with one agenda; to bring to the stage a show that will leave you wanting more! It is with that call to excellence that you will find their harmonies to be tight, their showmanship to be professional and their energy to be contagious! Gaylon pope & SweetWater are at home and very comfortable on any stage during their various show productions. Their productions range from a Country Variety Stage Show to an Oldies & Beach Music Show to a Church Concert. All of their productions are suitable for any audience and can be tailored to meet the need of any promoter. Whether it’s a Fair, Festival, Concert Hall, Performing Arts Theatre, Pool Side Stage or The Barn at The Farm, you will find Gaylon pope & SweetWater to be just the touch of entertainment you enjoy and can afford!
The Captain of this fine tuned ship is Gaylon Pope. Gaylon brings years of experience to any stage. His professional career began at the age of 17 with Larry Strickland (Husband of Naomi Judd) and The Glory Road Quartet. It was during this time that Gaylon and the group became the original PTL Singers for the PTL Television Network. They toured nationally making TV and radio appearances and also appeared on the Grand Ole Opry. During the early 70’s the group became very well known for their incredible harmonies and stage dynamics; it was these attributes that landed them on shows with super stars like: Barbara Mandrell, Larry Gatlin, Dottie West, George Morgan, Jerry Clower, The Oak Ridge Boys, and many more. Other groups that Gaylon has been a part of through the years include: The Chordsmen, The Majestics, Jerry & The Singing Goffs. Gaylon also had the honor of appearing with JD Sumner & The Stamps Quartet (Elvis Presley’s Back-up Vocals). He has remained very busy with his continued career in music performance. In 1997 he toured with North Carolina’s Ambassadors of Music and Beach Music legends, The Embers. After The Embers he had a 5 year run as a vocalist and MC on the American Music Jubilee Show (A Branson styled variety show). 2003 to May of 2010, Gaylon was General Manager, Producer & Performer for The Crystal Coast Jamboree in Morehead City, NC (Another Branson styled show). It was during this time that he was presented the key to the city by Mayor Jerry Jones for his contribution of Family Entertainment to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. Gaylon has been affectionately titled “Mr. Entertainment” by his loyal supporters, fans and locals of the Crystal Coast. This is a title that Gaylon does not take lightly. It is his philosophy that “A good singer is always in search of a good song; but a good entertainer will always have a job.” To this Gaylon has always tried to stay true. Gaylon brings a standard of excellence to any production or event. He is sought after as a Vocalist Performer, Master of Ceremony & Producer. He is a “Seasoned Entertainer” who gives every show and event 110-percent! With his rich vocals, comedic antics, Master of Ceremony Charisma, and stage energy, you are sure to enjoy his performance.
To the left side of the Captain you will fine Kerry-Jo Mozingo. Strike the match and show her the stage, then get ready for all engines at full thrust! Kerry-Jo is the blonde of the trio and the one who sets the energy. From the first note to the last, she will entertain you with her textured vocals and stage appeal! She too is a seasoned entertainer that loves to make an audience happy. But whatever you do, stand back when she hits the stage… because the firecracker is in the building!
To the right of the Captain is Jill Stroud. The “steady as she goes, but let’s rock the ship”! Jill, on most nights is the brunette, but don’t blink or she may change it… But color is what she’s all about. With pure harmonies smooth as silk, Jill adds all the color to the Trios sound. A bit shy, but keep your eye on her, because before you know it, she’s up front and in your face with a solo feature that will have your taste-buds yelling for more!
Every Captain needs a ‘First Mate’. To fill that roll, Mark Midkiff steps to the wheel. Mark is Gaylon’s business partner and friend of many years. He is the type of friend who has been there through good times and bad, always with support and with an “I’ve got your back” attitude. Mark is the glue that holds the ship together. He is very involved in the stage production and keeps eye & ear on the trio as they strive for that goal of excellence. Mark has a keen since of how a show should flow and how the over all sound and look of the show should be delivered. Make no mistake about it… there is no end to this man’s talent who keeps the ship on course.

Yellowknife
Yellowknife is a piano/drum based rock n roll act based out of Charleston SC. They combine original music along with original interpretation of a wide variety of popular cover tunes. Led by Stephen Jenkins.
The Yellowknife project started one dark and dreary night when freakishly tall Stratton Moore called freakishly tall Stephen Jenkins for an impromptu performance at the Drop-In Deli on Folly Beach SC. “Rasta” Rick Stonecypher joined shortly thereafter to fill out the sound with vocals and percussion. And now, with a full length album recently finished they are taking on the southeast faster than ever.mPiano driven melodies with strong rhythm section accompanied by lush vocal harmonies. Talking Heads meets the White Stripes comes to mind.

Gumbo Lily
Gumbo Lily is a wildflower of the west growing in gumbo (clay dirt). Pegie saw a street sign in the middle of the prairie in South Dakota called “Gumbo Lily Lane” and thought that would be a great name for a band. Rebecca and Pegie started singing together three years ago. We met Bobby at a jam and for some reason he agreed to play with us. Then we were lucky enough to talk Judy into joining us. The band is:
Pegie Douglas – vocals, guitar, spoons. Peggy, formally a member of Rusty Strings and Carolina Cowgirls, is a retired exceptional children teacher living in Morehead City, spending summers in South Dakota and playing music wherever she goes.
Bobby Chandler – banjo, dobro, guitar, vocals. Our not-so-secret weapon from Cherry Point, Bobby has been playing in bands since he was 16 years old. He is originally from Chocowinity but now resides in Newport, NC.
Judy Wooten – stand up acoustic bass. Judy has been playing stand up acoustic bass with local bands for the past 15 years. We depend on her steady rhythm and backup providing a solid foundation and her ever-present smile encouraging us. Judy is also a Morehead City Lily.
Rebecca Marks – vocals, guitar, kazoo (if we would let her). Other than the church choir and glee club, Rebecca has only wished to do this until now. Rebecca is living her dream at Atlantic Beach, NC.
This is our 2nd year together as a band. We’ve played at the NC Seafood Festival, Backstreet Pub, Hannah’s Haus, Harrika’s Brew Haus, Senor Dick’s Warehouse, Trent River Coffee Company, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, Beaufort Historical Association, Blu Sail Art Gallery, the Friends of Fort Macon, and the Trinity Center for the Road Scholar Program.
